Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Gavin he will be sadly missed
He was born in Ealing on the 19th of April 1935
John attended St Augustin and St Benedict’s Catholic schools before being awarded a scholarship to Oxford where he read Medieval History at Christchurch.
He then went on to serve his National Service in Hong Kong.
John was fluent in French, Italian and Spanish and could also speak Portuguese, German and Greek.
he worked in many countries for publishing firms including Collier Macmillan in various countries, Addison Wesley in Singapore, Pergamon Press and Sage Publications here in the UK.
John was widely travelled and he lived in many countries including Hong Kong, Switzerland, Singapore, Mexico and Colombia as well as here in the UK.
He visited many airports and he counted them in his travels with a total of 405 airports that he used.
He was on the committee of NGRA and was invaluable in planning issues where he will be sadly missed.
He passed away peacefully in Charing Cross hospital on the 27th of May 2023
He leaves his wife of 50 years Dora and daughter Julia and son Sean.
